Leduc County is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Community Recreation Programmer to join our team. Reporting to the Director – Community Services, this exciting opportunity contributes to the development and delivery of quality community recreation programs and services that are accessible and promote the health and wellness of Leduc County residents. As a member of the Parks and Recreation team, the Community Recreation Programmer is a key contributor to the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables.

Key Responsibilities Include:
What you will do
Support the development and implementation of the department’s recreational programs and services by prioritizing work in a changeable environment.
Assist with planning, organizing and implementing recreation programs and special events across the County to achieve organizational priorities and meet community needs.
Support the Community Program Coordinator and liaise with Communications to develop program advertising and schedules.
Support the Community Program Coordinator to create awareness of community recreation resources including volunteer and not for profit information by fostering and maintaining relationships with community partners to build recreation capacity.
Maintain the Leduc County Recreation Programs and Events Facebook page.
Support the Community Program Coordinator with mentoring and assisting with training of summer program personnel.
Provide event support and planning assistance to other departments.
Adhere to guidelines as set out in Leduc County’s policies and administrative directives.
Accountable for working in compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and participation in the Health, Safety and Wellness Program.
Perform related duties as required and assigned.
What you need to succeed
A degree or diploma in a recreation and leisure program or a related field and one to three years’ experience in recreation program planning. Standard First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C, or the willingness to obtain these certifications is required along with a criminal records check – vulnerable sector and a valid Alberta Class 5 Alberta Driver’s license.

We offer a competitive annual salary of $59,000 - $74,000 annually municipal pension plan, three-weeks vacation allocation, and an employer-paid comprehensive benefits package.
The opportunity is permanent full-time and is 35 hours per week scheduled Monday to Friday, with some extended hours to meet operational requirements. The office is located at 101-1101 5 St. Nisku, AB.
