Key Responsibilities

As a Community Peace Officer in Flagstaff County, you’ll play a key role in maintaining peace and order. You’ll be entrusted with enforcing Provincial Statutes and Municipal Bylaws, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents across Flagstaff County and our partner municipalities. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Patrolling the beautiful landscapes of Flagstaff County and the municipalities under contract to enforce traffic laws, bylaws, and Provincial Statutes.
  • Ensuring safe roads by addressing traffic violations, enforcing commercial vehicle regulations, and overseeing road safety.
  • Investigating complaints thoroughly and working to find fair and just solutions that ensure compliance.
  • Maintaining a commitment to health and safety policies and guidelines, contributing to a safe and effective workplace.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of the Solicitor General’s Public Security Peace Officer Training Program (or equivalent).
  • Eligible to be appointed as a Community Peace Officer Level 1 through Alberta Justice and Solicitor General.
  • Current Level C First Aid and CPR certification.
  • A solid understanding of the Community Peace Officer Program policies and procedures.
  • Certification in Radar/Laser Speed Detection, Commercial Vehicle Legislation, and Defensive Weapon & Tactics Training (within the past 2 years) – or a willingness to complete the training.

Bonus Qualifications (Assets):

  • A related diploma in law enforcement, criminology, or a similar field is a bonus!
  • Prior experience in law enforcement or similar fields is a plus!
