Sturgeon County is recruiting for a Community Development Coordinator that is focused on creating connections and improving the quality of life for our residents. This role works closely with our not-for-profits and community organizations to ensure they have the resources and supports needed to provide valuable services to our residents.
Plan and implement Volunteer Appreciation to recognize volunteers that support community through formal volunteer activities.
Support organizations in the recruitment, retention and recognition of volunteers.
Maintenance of community organization resource inventory.
Provide administrative support to the Senior Citizens Advisory Network including undertaking activities relevant to older generation.
Undertake administrative activities for Senior’s bussing including scheduling and invoicing.
Provide support to the funding process for not-for-profits and community organizations.
Provide support to summer programming as required including staffing at summer programs.
Provide back up for administrative assistant including customer service, program registration and other administrative tasks.
Responsible for working within a budget and administering expenses.
Undertake reporting on activities including tracking of program outcomes.
Support the development of communication materials and information sharing related to seniors’ and not-for-profit events and resources.
Perform special projects and other tasks as required.
Support the development and implementation of crime prevention activities within the County.
Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.
Requirements:
Post-secondary education in a human service, community development, or recreation administration related field or equivalency and experience working in human services.
Experience working with not-for-profit organizations would be an asset.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training or Mental Health First Aid Training will be required.
First Aid Training
Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector check is required.
Class 5 driver’s license and comfort with travel within Sturgeon County and the Edmonton region is also required.
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to interact effectively in a team environment and work independently exercising proactive and initiative taking skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with all generational groups.
Strong computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and all related software.
Must be able to work occasional evening or weekend hours.
Knowledge of FCSS program and related legislation would be an asset.

Salary Range: $60,775 - $79,975
