$89,564.80 – $111,966.40 per annum

Apprentice Rates are as follows:
1st Year = $27.77 per hour
2nd Year = $32.40 per hour
3rd Year = $37.03 per hour
4th Year = $41.66 per hour

Key Responsibilities

What is this Opportunity?

As an Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician, you’ll be part of a team that keeps our city moving — literally. You’ll work hands-on by actively learning diagnoses, repairs and maintaining mobile and stationary equipment owned by the city to ensure proper equipment operation.
This is a full-time, permanent position within our Facility, Fleet and Transit Services department, where your mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and pride in your work will make a direct impact on the services our residents rely on everyday.

Requirements

What will you do?
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on various pieces
of equipment (under Journeyman guidance)
• Maintain various pieces of equipment according to the manufacturer’s preventative maintenance
schedule (under Journeyman guidance)
• Maintain records of work performed on City equipment
• Clean and organize shop environment

What do you need to succeed?
You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:
• First year and up Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice
• Strong attention to detail
• 1-2 years of prior mechanical experience (preferred)
• Class 5 drivers’ license
