Summary

Application Analyst (Emergency Communications Centre) (Competition #24-56).

Parkland County has an opportunity for a temporary, full-time Applications Analyst (Emergency Communications Centre) position in the Information Services Department until December 2025.

Key Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Manager, Business Value Delivery, the Application Analyst (Emergency Communications Centre) provides application maintenance and support to minimize service disruption and facilitate operations for emergency communications. This position maintains a close working relationship with the Parkland County Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) and Fire Services Operations to provide solution delivery and maintenance of 9-1-1 Emergency applications and services. This position also coordinates both operational and departmental project initiatives using both in-house expertise and sub-contractor/vendor relationships. Work also includes defining application support standards, investigation of errors with applications, identification of root cause, and resolution of issues.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Post-secondary/Trade Certificate in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • An Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification would be considered an asset.
  • Five to Seven (5-7) years related technical experience with strong understanding of integrations, operating systems, network and server infrastructure and administrating systems
  • Strong technical experience with applications using SQL server backend.
  • Technical knowledge and working experience with IP-based call handling systems, computer aided dispatch and records management systems.
  • Support experience in Public Safety organizations such as police, fire, health services or other first-responder and emergency services related environments.
  • The ability to demonstrate effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel. Must possess the ability to interact and engage with vendors, managed service providers, and consultants.
  • Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.

The total rewards package for this position includes:

A starting annual salary of $82,300 to $102,800 based on a 35-hour work week.
