The RMA is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive and harassment free environment for all persons attending events hosted by the association, including conventions, tradeshows, meetings, and networking events. The Event Code of Conduct sets the tone and direction of conduct and ethical behavior that could be perceived as damaging to the trust and confidence of members, suppliers, members of government and, the general public. The RMA expects all attendees to behave in a professional and respectful manner.
Resolutions play an important role in the RMA’s advocacy efforts. The resolutions that will be presented during the resolution session at the RMA 2024 Spring Convention are now available.
There are also three emergent resolutions that have been submitted.
The 2024 Spring Convention will feature several speakers, ranging from political leaders to experts in various fields who will provide insight during the educational breakout sessions. Education sessions topics are still being finalized. We will update information as it is confirmed.
Our keynote speaker is Corey Hirsch. Corey is a former National Hockey League goaltender playing for four teams, the New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, Washington Capitals, and Dallas Stars. He played professionally for 13 seasons in a career that included wining a Silver medal for Canada at the 1994 Olympic Winter Games.
However, panic attacks and obsessive thoughts plagued much of his NHL career until he finally confided in a team trainer. He eventually saw a psychiatrist and was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Corey came out with his gripping story in The Players Tribune. It was a riveting and emotional article on being a suicide survivor and struggling with OCD while playing in the NHL.
Corey helps raise awareness about mental health issues in the sports community and business world. The hope is that by bringing mental health struggles out in the open and reducing stigma, those that have been suffering silently can access the help they desperately need – and deserve.
Thank you to Premier Fire and Flood Restoration for sponsoring the 2024 Spring Convention keynote speaker.
We are pleased to introduce another keynote speaker, Neville Wright. Neville represented Canada on the National Team in both Track & Field and Bob-sleigh for 15 years. During his athletic career, he achieved several notable mile-stones, including being a 2x CIS All Canadian Double Gold Medalist in Track & Field, a World University Games 100m Bronze Medalist, anchoring Canada’s 4x100m Re-lay Team at the IAAF World Championships, 7x National Gold Medalist in Bobsleigh, 5x IBSF World Championships competitor, and 3 Olympic Games in Bobsleigh.
Despite his impressive accomplishments, Neville’s success did not come easy. He knows the importance of hard work and dedication, having risen from humble beginnings. He discovered that his success derived primarily from his ability to over-come and rise against any challenges that came his way. He shares personal experiences of his background, being a person of colour in sports and growing up, and his strategies of the mindset it takes to adapt to any situation no matter who you are and where you come from. This is why Neville is such a motivational figure, as he has an authentic and inspirational way of sharing his stories and experiences with others
