Below are some valuable resources specifically of use to municipalities and members of RMA:
The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) provides funding, technical assistance, and education to support Alberta municipalities in addressing climate change by reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.
The MCCAC is a partnership between the Government of Alberta, the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA), and Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA).
The Elected Officials Education Program (EOEP) is jointly owned and operated by the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA). The EOEP was formed in 2007 to provide Alberta’s municipal elected officials with professional development opportunities and ensure that they are well-positioned to serve their communities effectively.
The EOEP offers six courses on topics that are most relevant to elected officials. Each course has been developed by subject matter experts and adult learning specialists, to ensure that both course content and delivery methods reflect the fact that elected officials have limited time to dedicate to professional development.
FCM brings together nearly 2,000 municipalities of all sizes — representing more than 90 percent of Canadians. Together with their members, they’ve secured historic gains at the federal level — empowering local leaders to build better lives.
MAMP offers funding, training, and resources to help municipalities strengthen asset management practices.
The Peer Network for Dispute Resolution is a partnership that has created a group of peer mentors who municipal leaders can contact to obtain advice and assistance to help address local issues. Municipal disputes are a unique blend of issues and personalities. Municipal leaders who have successfully resolved disputes are in the best position to offer advice about the challenges of finding solutions that benefit all involved.
Brownlee LLP is pleased to continue to offer its Municipal Helpline service as part of its continued commitment to municipalities, and the people that make them better.
