Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with a minimum of two years of related traffic operations, temporary traffic control, and/or roadway construction experience
- Working towards a professional accreditation as a C.E.T. with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) would be considered an asset
- Active certification in Alberta Temporary Traffic Control from Alberta Construction Safety Association is preferred
- Level 1 certification with the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) in roadway markings and signing would be an asset
- Excellent knowledge of the Traffic Safety Act, Transportation Association of Canada’s Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices of Canada (MUTCDC), Alberta Transportation’s Traffic Accommodation in Work Zones, Strathcona County’s Traffic Bylaw and Right-of-Way Construction Activity Manual
- Extensive knowledge of temporary traffic control and construction standards
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions within the established methodologies and specifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and the Microsoft Office suite
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
