Summary

The County of Wetaskiwin is seeking a Community Programs Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Leisure & Community Services, the Community Programs Coordinator is responsible for providing community development, advocate for community members, assist clients directly with information and referral services, and facilitate an awareness of social needs and trends within the community.
This is a full time position commencing as soon as possible. Office Hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; or as required.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, plan, and deliver health, wellness, educational, social and recreational programs and events in the community for a variety of ages and abilities.
Develop, plan, and deliver information and referral, programs, workshops, and events as they pertain to Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) mandate.
Provide administrative and customer support to the Leisure and Community Services department.
Recruit and coordinate community volunteers to support events, programs, or other department activities.

Requirements

Background in Social Work, Public Administration, or related human services is preferred.
Post-secondary education related to Human Services/Community Development is an asset.
Minimum of 3-5 years working in a municipal government environment.
High degree of commitment, reliability and personal initiative with excellent planning and organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate with individuals, groups and agencies; with the capacity to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Group facilitation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, website management and general computer skills.
A valid driver’s license and criminal record check.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
