We are currently recruiting for a casual LATS Operator for our Transit Services Department. Casual employees do not have set hours and are therefore used to fill in when other Operators are on vacation, training or away from work for other reasons.

 

Key Responsibilities

What is this Opportunity?

Reporting to the Accessible Transit Supervisor, this position provides driver-assisted, door-to-door transportation for seniors and individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, within the City of Leduc.  Operators work in all types of weather and road conditions.  This job is physically demanding, and operators are routinely required to be able to lift up to 20 kilograms.

Requirements

What will you do?

  • Operation of a LATS vehicle, transporting clients in a safe and responsible manner
  • Maintain contact with Supervisor and Dispatch via radio or cell phone as required during shift
  • Maintain fare products for sale to clients, and an accurate accounting of sales
  • Maintain work records, preparing reports, etc.
  • Pre-trip and post-trip inspections, cleaning and fueling of vehicles
  • Reporting of any mechanical issues to Supervisor and Fleet Services
  • Maintain certifications and attend training as required

What do you need to succeed?

You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Standard First Aid certificate
  • Valid Class 4 Alberta vehicle operator’s license; non-probationary with no more than 3 demerits
  • Formal training/experience in defensive driving and/or public relations
  • Excellent customer service and public relations experience
  • Experience in working with individuals with physical and/or cognitive delays
