Reporting to the lead Corporate Security Advisor, this position is the subject matter expert for Strathcona County on security issues related to physical/personnel security, security, threats, risk and impact assessments, planning, training, and related policy development. The County’s Corporate Security Advisor is an experienced security professional responsible for developing and maturing the corporate security program for Strathcona County. Though positioned in the RCMP and Enforcement Services Department, the role works laterally to provide leadership, coordination, and support to all County departments
Providing consultative advice to multiple municipal departments as well as verbal and documented security advice in response to security threats, serious security incidents including the identification and documentation of vulnerabilities throughout the organization. Advisors will also conduct security assessments and post-investigation follow-up in coordination with multi agency law enforcement, community stakeholders and County staff.
This position requires an experienced Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
with a background in Executive protection or be willing to attend that training within the first year of being in the role. The applicant must either already have or must be able to quality for Peace Officer Level 2 status and be able to pass the RCMP enhanced screening process for the purposes of information sharing.
The Corporate Security Advisor is accountable to maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders regarding the coordination of activities, security issues, including the exchange of intelligence information through consultation with various organizations including the RCMP and Corporate Security Services with Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services.
