WHEREAS the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties represents the collective voice of rural municipalities in Alberta;AND WHEREAS the role of Alberta Municipal Affairs is to provide an environment to enable local decision makers and individuals to provide excellence in local government, basic shelter for those most in need, and a fair marketplace. Municipal Affairs also guarantees high quality registry information and accessible service for Albertans and is committed to effectiveness and affordability in the delivery of these services;AND WHEREAS Housing Authorities which provide senior housing are one component of Alberta Municipal Affairs which provides adequate basic shelter for those most in need;AND WHEREAS the Alberta Municipal Finance Corporation is the borrowing component of the Alberta Treasury whereby municipalities may borrow by way of debentures on the security of municipalities;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties lobby the Provincial Government to allow Housing Authorities to borrow funds, at a reasonable rate of interest, directly from the Alberta Municipal Finance Corporation.
