Municipal Restructuring Grant Program

To provide funding that better reflects the true costs of municipal restructuring and to provide certainty in the levels of funding, Alberta Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAH) updated the Municipal Restructuring Grant Program. This was based on recommendations from the Municipal Restructuring Grant Consultation Committee which was formed by MAH with representation from four chief administrative officers with recent experience in dissolutions or amalgamations, the AAMDC and the AUMA. This funding has the following components:- Transition- Infrastructure- Debt management- Unconditional- EnhancedThe Municipal Restructuring Grant Program is intended to offset restructuring costs to a receiving municipality, as in the event of dissolution, or for amalgamated municipalities.
