Preamble:

WHEREAS the last approved resolution of the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties dealing with education funding states that the Province of Alberta should fund 85% of education costs from non-property tax revenues;AND WHEREAS provincial general revenue currently funds significantly less than 85% of education costs; AND WHEREAS it appears to be unrealistic to expect the Province to fund education to this degree;

Operative Clause:

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties urge the Province of Alberta to ensure that a minimum of 75% of the costs of the K-12 education system are funded through provincial general revenues, and that no more than 25% of K-12 education costs are funded by property tax.
