Preamble:

WHEREAS some large equipment manufacturers are forcing their dealers to handle only their brand of equipment, thus forcing the loss of availability of many parts and short-line equipment;AND WHEREAS dealer purity could unfairly restrict development and product marketing of new products produced locally;AND WHEREAS it is difficult to keep manufacturers and dealers of short-line equipment in small rural communities throughout Canada;AND WHEREAS the potential loss of short-line equipment and loss of equipment selection and part supplies in rural Alberta and Western Canada will be just another way of eroding the viability of agricultural communities in Alberta;AND WHEREAS other governments in Canada and the United States have recently passed legislation to prohibit dealer purification;

Operative Clause:

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties urge the Alberta government to take immediate action to prohibit dealer purification.
