RMA and ABmunis are partnering to offer a series of educational webinars designed to help prepare and attract candidates for the 2025 municipal election. RMA is requesting elected officials complete a brief survey to inform the content of the webinars.
The Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) and Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) are collaborating to provide prospective candidates and Albertans at-large with a comprehensive and authentic introduction to municipal service, highlighting everything from daily responsibilities and the role of municipal elected officials, to how to run for office. RMA’s Running for Municipal Office webpage offers an overview of the campaign, and includes materials developed by RMA, ABmunis, and Alberta Municipal Affairs, which provide information for those interested in running for municipal office.
As part of the campaign, RMA and ABmunis will be co-hosting a series of webinars open to the public to provide an opportunity to gain insights and ask questions about running for municipal office.
The webinars aim to:
- Build strong, effective councils across Alberta
- Equip potential candidates with a clear understanding of municipal roles
- Ensure new councillors are better prepared for their responsibilities
- Strengthen the relationship between councils and administration
- Help potential candidates make more informed decisions about running for office
By completing this brief survey, elected officials have the opportunity to contribute to the content of these sessions and provide potential candidates with their real-world experiences.
