The RMA is encouraging members to submit written input for the AUC inquiry on electricity generation projects by November 22, 2023
The AUC is accepting written submissions as part of their inquiry into electricity generation projects. The inquiry is taking place in part due to the RMA’s advocacy on the issue, which has been driven by several recent resolutions. Ensuring that the AUC and other stakeholders understand the challenges that the current process has caused for individual municipalities will be crucial to the inquiry leading to changes to the AUC project approval process that will better consider local land use plans and perspectives.
The RMA encourages members to submit either written input or complete the comment matrix provided by the AUC. Both are due on November 22, 2023.
While municipalities are not required to register to participate in the inquiry to submit comment matrices, registration is required to submit written input. Municipalities can register through the AUC’s eFiling system through the following steps:
- Register an account on the AUC eFiling system.
- Go to Proceeding 28501 and register to participate under the “registered parties” tab.
- Submit your written submission – note this will be made available to public.
In addition to allowing for written input, registration will also allow municipalities to receive regular updates on the inquiry, including notice of registration from other parties, notice of submissions, and other updates and information from the AUC.
More information on how to utilize the eFiling system can be found on the AUC’s eFiling Basics Brochure. Further information on the AUC’s engagement process, including cost recovery mechanisms, can be found on their website.
To support members in completing the matrix or developing written input, the RMA has prepared a member consultation guide, which will be shared directly with members by email in the coming days.
