Advocacy Report Card provides updates and statuses for all active resolutions
RMA is pleased to provide the members with an update on advocacy efforts through the Spring 2018 Advocacy Report Card.
The Advocacy Report Card is an important part of the RMA’s efforts to be transparent and accountable to members, as it provides an update on the RMA’s advocacy efforts and statuses of all active resolutions, including initial statuses and RMA reactions to the Fall 2017 resolutions.
Section 1 of the Advocacy Report Card includes the Government of Alberta responses to resolutions endorsed at the fall 2017 convention. Section 2 provides an update on all other active resolutions. Section 1 only reflects RMA’s reaction to the initial response received from the Government of Alberta and that further advocacy efforts on all resolutions are in progress.
Typically, the RMA resolutions database is updated to reflect the status changes and developments included in the latest Advocacy Report Card. However, the resolutions database is currently under construction and will be made available later in 2018.
As an advocacy organization, it is important to note that when a resolution has been assigned a status of “Accepted”, it is still reviewed for progress and updates during the bi-yearly Advocacy Report Card process. Following each review, the status may change depending on any developments that have occurred. Further, after resolutions expire, regardless of their status, RMA continues to reference them when related issues arise.
Resolutions form an integral part of RMA’s advocacy efforts. RMA would like to acknowledge the work that the membership undertakes in drafting and debating resolutions that reflect issues of importance to rural municipalities.
