The engagement is intended to support the Government of Alberta in better understanding opportunities for investment and growth in rural Alberta
The Associate Minister of Rural Economic Development has launched an engagement on rural economic development. The intent of the engagement is to gather feedback “on ways to promote economic development in rural Alberta by further understanding opportunities to support investment and growth”.
The engagement process includes virtual and in-person sessions with targeted stakeholders from several sectors, including municipalities, as well as a survey.
RMA members are encouraged to complete the survey. The survey deadline is December 18, 2021. Prior to completing the survey, participants are recommended to review the following documents:
- Rural economic development engagement: Programs and agency definitions
- Rural economic development engagement: Federal, provincial, and municipal supports
- Rural economic development engagement: Alberta’s Recovery Plan highlights
Members are also encouraged to review RMA’s 2018 study on the economic contributions of rural Alberta, as well as RMA’s rural economic development position statements in advance of completing the survey.
