Position statements provide a concise overview of RMA’s position on key policy areas
RMA takes pride in representing the rural municipal perspective to government decision-makers, industry, and other stakeholders. As part of its advocacy efforts, RMA develops and updates a series of position statements that summarize and reflect the RMA perspective on key policy areas. These position statements are updated and approved by the Board of Directors twice each year. RMA encourages members to review the position statements and use them as a resource in local advocacy efforts.
To address new issues and priorities, RMA has added two new position statement categories for winter 2021: Municipal Taxation and Assessment and Red Tape Reduction.
Position statements are divided into the following categories:
- About RMA
- Agriculture
- Broadband and Connectivity
- Climate Change
- Community Services
- Energy
- Environment
- Health
- Industry and Development
- Municipal Finances
- Municipal Taxation and Assessment
- Planning and Development
- Policing and Rural Crime
- Red Tape Reduction
- Rural Economic Development
- Transportation and Infrastructure
If more detail is needed on a certain issue, please search for related resolutions on RMA’s Resolution Database. Also please feel free to contact the policy advisor listed in each position statement category to discuss issues in more detail.
