RMA Member Guide on Reclamation Securities

The RMA has created a guide to facilitate member participation in consultations on reclamation securities

Environment and Protected Areas (EPA) is engaging with municipalities and other stakeholders on the design of reclamation securities to be used with renewable energy developments. EPA is seeking information on:

  • The challenges and opportunities related to implementing mandatory security, including the option for landowners to choose either negotiating security directly with developers, or taking part in a new program for government-held security.
  • What should government consider when implementing a government-held program for wind and solar reclamation security?
  • How should security be calculated and when should it be required by EPA for wind and solar renewable energy operations?

To facilitate member participation in the engagements, the RMA has created a member guide. The guide is intended to share the RMA’s positions on the consultation material for members to consider in their responses. RMA members are encouraged to use the guide as a base and add local examples to share their perspectives.

There are several opportunities to engage with EPA:
