Resolutions are a key advocacy tool through which RMA members identify priority issues requiring action by other orders of government and decision-makers. RMA uses endorsed resolutions to guide advocacy activities, identify positions, and ultimately seek to affect change in support of the issues identified through resolutions. A well-developed resolution helps support RMA’s advocacy efforts and helps rural municipalities ensure that key issues and priorities are conveyed in a clear and concise way.
As district meetings get scheduled leading up to RMA’s Fall 2026 Convention, RMA is reminding members that the Policy and Advocacy team is available to assist with resolution development. This is optional – RMA members are not required but are encouraged to share resolutions to RMA for review if desired.
RMA staff offer our support to help draft clear and actionable operative clauses, to ensure alignment with resolutions policy, to advise on general formatting and structure or to provide overall feedback.
Resolutions can be sent to Policy & Research Analyst Bezawit Lemma (Bezawit@rmalberta.com).
