District 1 and District 4 Director elections will take place at the 2026 RMA Fall Convention
The nomination period for all positions up for election on the RMA Board of Directors in 2026 has now closed. The RMA Board of Directors has staggered rotating board elections with three positions scheduled for election one year and four positions the next.
As previously announced, Kara Westerlund has been elected by acclamation as RMA President for the 2026 – 2028 term following the close of Presidential nominations on October 5.
Nominations for the District 1 and District 4 Director positions have now also closed. Elections for both positions will take place on Thursday, November 5 from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. during the 2026 RMA Fall Convention at the Edmonton Convention Centre.
Candidates for Election
The following candidates are seeking election as District 1 Director:
- Kelly Christman – County of Newell
- John Kuerbis – Lethbridge County
The District 1 election will take place in Salon 12, Meeting Level, on Thursday, November 5 from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
The following candidates are seeking election as District 4 Director:
- Karen Rosvold – County of Grande Prairie
- Robert Willing – Municipal District of Peace
The District 4 election will take place in Salon 8, Meeting Level, on Thursday, November 5 from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
Only elected officials from RMA full member municipalities located within District 4 are eligible to vote in the District 4 Director election.
The newly constituted RMA Board of Directors will be introduced during the Closing Ceremonies on Thursday, November 5 from 12:00 to 12:15 p.m. in Hall D.
