The RMA Board of Directors has staggered rotating board elections with four positions up for election one year and three positions the next. Four RMA board positions were open for nominations in 2023: the Vice President and directors for District 2, District 3, and District 5.
The nomination deadline for the 2023 available positions closed at 4:30 pm on October 23, 2023.
The following candidates have been declared by acclamation for the role in which they submitted nominations papers for:
- District 5: Kevin Wirsta, County of St. Paul
There will be elections for the following positions at the 2023 Fall Convention:
- Vice President – Election to be held on Wednesday, November 8 at 1:00 pm in Hall D. All elected officials from RMA full member municipalities are eligible to vote in this election. The following candidates are on the ballot:
- Amber Link, Wheatland County
- Kara Westerlund, Brazeau County
As per the RMA election policy, candidates are able to submit nomination papers for both the position of Vice President and the available District Director position that represents their member municipality. The candidate elected for the position of Vice President will be removed from the ballot for their respective District Director elections. The District Director position in that district will be acclaimed.
The candidate for Vice President that is not elected to that position will participate in their District Director election. As such, only one of the elections below will proceed depending on the outcome of the Vice President election.
- District 2 Director – Election to be held on Thursday, November 9 at 8:15 am in Salon 4. Only elected officials from full member municipalities located within District 2 are eligible to vote in this election. The following candidates are on the ballot:
- Amber Link, Wheatland County
- Gennifer Mehlhaff, Clearwater County
- District 3 Director – Election to be held on Thursday, November 9 at 8:15 am in Salon 4. Only elected officials from full member municipalities located within District 3 are eligible to vote in this election. The following candidates are on the ballot:
- John Burrows, Woodlands County
- Kara Westerlund, Brazeau County
All board positions listed are for a two-year term. This term shall commence at the conclusion of the 2023 Fall Convention.
