RMA is seeking member input on the Clean Energy Improvement Program (PACE-style program). The PACE program allows Albertans to make affordable energy efficiency or renewable energy upgrades to private property (residential, commercial, and agricultural) without a down payment. The cost of the upgrade is recovered from the property owner through property taxes over several years.
The PACE program was a topic of discussion during an RMA board meeting with Environment and Parks Minister, Jason Nixon. In this meeting, RMA learned that the Government of Alberta is in the process of determining whether to continue operating the program. The government is interested in receiving input from municipalities on if the program provides value and supports energy efficiency upgrades.
Please email Alex Mochid, RMA Policy Analyst, at alex@RMAlberta.com by October 15 with your input on the PACE program. Input received will be compiled and forwarded to Alberta Environment and Parks.
