National Housing Strategy Initiatives

$40 billion in funding is available over 10 years for housing in Canada

The National Housing Strategy (NHS) was founded with the intention of strengthening the middle class, addressing homelessness, and fueling the Canadian economy. Utilizing federal funding, grants, and loan mechanisms, the NHS will create affordable, stable, and livable communities. There are four overarching headings with individualized initiatives (see listing below and click here for website) that each have its own set of requirements and deadline. Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is leading and will deliver the NHS initiatives.

Throughout the 10-year NHS plan, CMHC will score and prioritize applications, administer funding, and manage borrowing. To access initiative information and create an account, you must click into the initiative you are interested in. Please note that application reviews will take several weeks and that applicants will have the ability to monitor the status of their application in the online application portal.
