Learn More About RMA’s Approach to the Upcoming Provincial Election

The RMA will host a webinar on December 16 to discuss rural municipal priorities related to next year’s provincial election

With a provincial election expected in May 2023, the RMA is preparing an approach to ensure that all parties and candidates consider rural municipal priorities in their platform and campaign development. The RMA’s election goal is that all candidates understand that RMA members are Uniquely Rural, and that party platforms recognize the special contributions that rural municipalities make to the province and include recognition of the challenges and opportunities that exist in rural Alberta.

To provide an overview of the RMA’s election approach and offer an opportunity for members to learn more about what issues may drive pre-election dialogue, the RMA is holding a webinar titled Uniquely Rural: The RMA’s Election Priorities on Friday, December 16 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. The presentation was originally scheduled as a workshop at the RMA 2022 Fall Convention, but due to the length of the resolutions session, it has been rescheduled to this date.

The webinar will feature two speakers:

  • Alberta Counsel Senior Advisor and former RMA President Al Kemmere will speak on general trends and notable pre-election issues.
  • RMA President Paul McLauchlin will speak on RMA’s election priorities and how members will be engaged in the pre-election advocacy process.

The webinar is open to all RMA member elected officials and staff and is free to attend. There is no need to register in advance. To join the webinar, use this link.
