The Government of Alberta has partnered with Healthy Aging Alberta to expand transportation and mobility services for seniors in rural communities.
Healthy Aging Alberta is a network that was created to connect community-based senior-serving organizations with larger systems such as health, housing, and the disability sectors. The Government of Alberta has invested $3.5 million over three years to assist Healthy Aging Alberta with providing accessible and affordable transportation services for seniors and others with mobility issues. The project will fund 19 different communities through a phased approach.
These services will include more frequent trips being available, new routes for out-of-town services, additional accessible vehicle options, and more. RMA sees this as a positive step to helping seniors age in place.
