Emergency Housing Funding

Employment and Social Development Canada has approved $800,000 in funding for rural and remote Alberta communities to provide housing for marginalized groups during the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds will be allocated by the Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) and go towards projects supporting marginalized groups, who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless, and who may be experiencing increased hardship due to the pandemic.

In order to serve multiple areas, funding for projects will likely be limited to $25,000 per project, although more costly projects may also be approved. Projects must occur outside of Alberta’s seven largest centres, making RMA member municipalities eligible for this funding. Funds must be spent and reported on by March 31, 2021.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with the current deadline for applications being April 24, 2020. To view the application form, click here.
