The AAMDC Spring 2018 Convention, scheduled for March 19-21, is fast approaching and is sure to be another great event. For a complete convention agenda information, click here.
The trade show will kick things off on March 19 with 165 exhibitors featuring approved suppliers, government agencies, and a variety of other companies and organizations. AAMDC will have staff on hand to showcase our Trade Division, External Relations and Advocacy Department, Jubilee Insurance and PFA.
The convention program is packed on Tuesday, March 20 with keynote speaker Kelly Lendsay and plenary addresses from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Minister of Infrastructure, and RCMP. Tuesday’s program will also feature Rural Redefined, a special presentation you must see to appreciate!
The resolution session will run in the afternoon followed by workshops, including:
- Working Together: Using the Inter-Municipal Collaboration Framework Workbook
- Discovering Your Speakers Edge
- Indigenous Awareness Circle
This year’s convention will wrap-up Wednesday, March 21 with an AAMDC report on implementing Board Governance Review Committee recommendations, followed by another round of workshops, the Ministerial Forum, a closing plenary on the importance of collaborative communication, and a luncheon to send delegates on their way.
Wednesday’s workshops include:
- Good Behaviour and Great Engagement: Using MGA Tools for Code of Conduct and Public Participation Policies
- Cannabis in the Counties: Amending Land Use Bylaws for Production and Retail Cannabis Facilities
- Get to Know Your Association
There are a number of social events taking place during convention that provide valuable networking opportunities for convention delegates. On Monday, March 19, visit the Aggregated Business Services Open House sponsored by Kortech Calcium Services Ltd. to network with approved suppliers, and be sure to stop by the Brownlee LLP hospitality suite. The Municipal Affairs open house will be on Tuesday, March 20 as well as the WSP social evening, and FortisAlberta’s hospitality suite, and Kortech Calcium Services Ltd. hospitality suite.
