Wherever your municipality is in its asset management journey, these resources can help
Through the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP), the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has developed several new resources to support municipalities in implementing or enhancing their asset management practices. The new resources include the following:
Updated Asset Management Readiness Scale
The Asset Management Readiness Scale (AMRS) is intended to provide municipalities with a method to determine their baseline level of asset management readiness and track their progress over time. The original AMRS has been updated to make it easier to use. Changes to the scale will not impact the readiness level of municipalities currently using the old scale, but all municipalities are encouraged to use the updated AMRS moving forward.
For many small municipalities, getting started on asset management can seem like an impossible challenge. This resource was designed to support municipalities in the early stages of establishing asset management practices and focuses on how to implement modest initial changes that can lead to significant long-term progress.
Starting the Asset Management Conversation in Your Municipality
Engaging municipal councils and staff on asset management is critical to supporting organization-wide buy-in but is not always easy given limited time and budgets. This resource includes an adaptable, ready-to-use presentation to start the asset management conversation with council and staff. The package includes slides, speaking notes, a short video and discussion questions.
Asset Management Resources for Beginners
The resources listed in the topic were identified by the MAMP Technical Working Group as great places for beginners to familiarize themselves with asset management.
