The Alberta Utilities Commission is consulting on AUC Rule 009, which addresses intervener cost recovery and other issues related to hearing participation
The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) issued a bulletin on October 3 outlining a consultation related to possible changes to Rule 009, which outlines cost recovery standards for interveners in approval hearings and the use of agents to support parties participating in hearings. Of importance to RMA members, the AUC is contemplating changes to Rule 009 to expand cost recovery to municipalities, which aligns with recommendations made by RMA’s Quasi-Judicial Agencies Committee (see recommendation 8).
Municipalities are encouraged to review the proposed amendments and submit comments to engage@auc.ab.ca by November 14, 2024.
The RMA will continue to monitor opportunities for member engagement on renewable energy policy development.
