Alberta Environment and Parks Sportfishing Regulations Engagement Sessions

Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) will be hosting a series of public online engagement sessions in January regarding fisheries management and proposed regulatory changes. The topics that will be covered include:

  • How recreation management objectives and sportfishing regulations are established
  • An update on recreational harvest slot limits
  • Options to enhance the Special Harvest Licence program
  • Updates on native trout recovery
  • Regional, waterbody-specific regulations proposed for 2021 – 2022

All of the webinars will take place over Zoom from 7:00 – 8:30 pm on the following dates:

  • Introduction to Fisheries Management – January 18
  • Harvest Slot Sizes – January 19
  • Special Harvest Licences – January 20
  • Native Trout Program Update – January 21
  • Proposed Regulation Changes for Central and Southern Alberta – January 25
  • Proposed Regulation Changes for Northwest Alberta – January 26
  • Proposed Regulation Changes for Northeast Alberta – January 27

These webinars will provide background information that will help inform the feedback stakeholders provide on the 2021 Sportfishing Regulation Survey, which will open on January 15, 2021. The deadline to complete the survey is February 8, 2021.

Interested participants must pre-register for each webinar session using the instructions on AEP’s engagement website.
