Summary

The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for a Temporary Web Developer. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and building a high-performance, responsive website for the M.D. of Bonnyville (with a dedicated Economic Development sub-site) and Kinosoo Ridge Resort that deliver exceptional user experience, supported by the department’s Graphic Design and Digital Media positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new user-facing features and web applications from design mockups/wireframes.
  • Build reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code and libraries.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design across devices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to determine needs.
  • Integrate with third-party Application Programming Interface (APIs) and services.
  • Implement security and data protection best practices.
  • Stay up to date with emerging web technologies and industry trends.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the position as required.

Requirements

Required:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in software development or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional web development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in modern web development frameworks, libraries, and languages.
  • Solid experience with back-end web technologies and APIs.
  • Proficiency with Git version control.
  • Familiarity with build tools and package managers.
  • Understanding of web performance, web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG), and SEO best practices.
  • Knowledge of database integration and utilization.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Superior creativity skills.
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team environment as well as possess exemplary project management skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license in good standing.
  • Criminal Record Check with satisfactory results.

Assets:

  • Experience in municipal government or working with community-based organizations.
  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines and DevOps tools.
  • Knowledge of serverless architecture and cloud platforms.
  • Testing frameworks.
  • Understanding of User Interface/User Experience principles and design tools.
