Key Responsibilities Include:
The Utility Operator will perform a variety of skilled, technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance and repair of the County’s Water and Wastewater assets including the SCADA system.
This position is responsible for operating the water, water distribution, wastewater collection and wastewater disposal facilities. The position will also operate, maintain, troubleshoot and monitor all necessary equipment and structures and develop solutions to rectify any issues. As part of the Utilities Team, the operator will follow regular maintenance programs, procedures and schedules, provide accurate reports, complete testing and ensuring compliance with Alberta Environment.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Knowledge of the Alberta Environmental Codes of Practice for Water/Wastewater Systems and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Have or working towards the Level 1 Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Treatment certificates. Current Level 1 certification would be considered an asset for this position.
• Two or more years of experience in operating and maintaining water and wastewater plants and experience with Industrial wastewater treatment facilities would be considered an asset.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
This position is required to work on-call as well as after hours and weekends as necessary.
