Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, the Utility Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Cypress County’s water plants, water distribution systems, wastewater treatment and wastewater collection systems, and daily utilities account services

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have Grade 12 or G.E.D; valid Level 1 Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Wastewater Treatment or ability to obtain Level 1 certification for Alberta Environment and Parks (A.E.P.) in a reasonable, agreed upon time frame; minimum of two (2) years directly related operating experience in water and/or wastewater systems is preferred; demonstrated knowledge of Alberta Environment Code of Practice for Water/Wastewater Systems and the Occupational Health and Safety Act; valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record; proficiency with computers and familiar with Microsoft Office products including Excel; physical ability to perform job tasks in all weather conditions is a safe manner; valid First Aid Certificate with CPR, WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), Confined Space Entry/Rescue, H2S Alive; a management approved combination of education and experience may be considered.
