What You Bring:
- Minimum 4 years of related experience, including supervisory or leadership experience
- Minimum 2 years of post-secondary education (equivalencies will be considered)
- Clean Criminal Records Check
- Strong knowledge of parks and recreation operations, equipment, arboriculture, horticulture, and turf maintenance
- Experience with equipment operation and maintenance
- Sound understanding of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act, safety legislation, and best practices
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational software
- Valid Criminal Record Check
Certifications (Must have or be willing to obtain within the first 18 months of employment):
- Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Q endorsement and clean driver’s abstract
- CAN/CSA-Z614 Playground Safety
- Pesticide Applicator Certification
- SAGA and Powered Mobile Equipment Operator certifications (including Loader, Grader, Backhoe, Skid Steer, Excavator, MEWP, Fall Protection, etc.)
Assets:
- Previous supervisory experience for Safety Excellence (LSE)
- Parks and Sports Field Operator
- Arboriculture Canada courses or horticulture-related credentials
- Turf Science Certificate (Level 1 and 2)
- Utility and Equipment Operator certifications
- Turf Management from Sports Turf Canada
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Courses
- Advanced Certificate of Leadership
- Landscape Horticulturist Apprenticeship or Horticulture Technologist Diploma
- Municipal (City Works) experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and operating equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and participation in an on-call rotation

- A salary range of $90,750.40 – $118,393.60 per annum (based on experience and qualifications)
