Now Hiring: Supervisor, Agronomics (Competition #24-55)

Key Responsibilities

Parkland County has an opportunity for a temporary, full-time Supervisor, Agronomics position in the Agriculture & Environment Services Department until approximately September 2025. Under the direction of the Manager, Agronomics, this position is responsible for the supervision of Parkland County’s weed and pest inspection programs, coordination of surveys and liaising with agribusinesses and industry to deliver programs to residents to achieve strategic goals of the County.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Agriculture or a related field. Additional coursework or training in a related field and/or formal leadership training would be an asset.
  • Three (3) years of related experience in addition to experience in a supervisory capacity. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Membership with the Alberta Institute of Agrologists.
  • Pesticide Applicator’s License.
  • A CCA designation would be an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong public relations skills and the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive situations and/or information.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new programs.
  • Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.

The total rewards package for this position includes:

A starting annual salary of $82,300 to $102,800 based on a 35-hour work week and the option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
