The Town of Crossfield is dedicated to maintaining beautiful, safe, and accessible parks and green spaces for the enjoyment of the community and visitors. Reporting to our Parks Supervisor, our Parks department is seeking nine (9) motivated and hardworking individuals to join us as Seasonal Parks Operators (May to August 2026). This position offers an opportunity to work outdoors, contributing to the care and upkeep of our public parks, green spaces, and the cemetery.

Key Responsibilities

YOUR Essential Functions

  • Grounds maintenance (e.g. mowing, trimming, etc.) for all Town parks, green spaces, and the cemetery.
  • Tree, shrub, flower, and plant maintenance throughout all areas of Town.
  • Maintenance, cleaning, and repairs as necessary on all park amenities and features.
  • Maintenance of sports fields and courts, including ball diamonds, soccer fields, running track, tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball courts, and outdoor rink.
  • Daily maintenance and monitoring of the splash park.
  • Inspections of all parks, green spaces, pathways, and outdoor facilities.
  • Minor maintenance duties on recreation and civic, including painting and cleaning.
  • Assist with set-up, take down, or supervision of community events and youth recreation activities as requested and/or available.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Parks Supervisor, their designate, and/or the Director of Infrastructure and Community Growth.

Requirements

What YOU Bring

Education & Experience:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older, have a grade 12 diploma or equivalent, valid Class 5 Drivers’ License, and a willingness to learn.
  • Preference may be given to individuals with post-secondary education, or currently attending post-secondary education, in horticulture or other related fields.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a vulnerable sector check, as well as a current 3-year driver’s abstract.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in operating a diverse range of equipment, hand tools, and power tools with a high level of competence and safety.
  • Strong ability to interpret and follow both written and oral instructions accurately.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with internal and external information.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace

This is a seasonal full-time position (40-hour work week) Monday to Friday; some evenings and weekends may be required. The Town of Crossfield offers a competitive wage and a supportive team environment.
