Under supervision, the Fire Services Technician will assist with departmental projects including but not limited to
basic maintenance, operational support, inventory management, and data entry tasks. This position involves working in both an office setting and in the field completing a variety of logistical, maintenance, and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, experience utilizing technology to manage large amounts of information, the ability to follow instructions, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate light vehicles and hand tools to complete duties as assigned.
• Load, unload, and transport goods and materials between fire districts.
• Complete inspections, documentation, and inventories of fire assets.
• Assist with set up and data entry into fire services electronic records management system.
• Maintain accurate and legible records of work performed.
• Follow instructions and collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and work procedures.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Maintain courteous relations with the public, contractors, and staff at all times.
• Participate in safety meetings and training as part of the County’s Health and Safety program.
• Perform any other duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Previous experience using Microsoft Office 365 suite of programs.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge in the use of hand tools and equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and record keeping skills.
• Knowledge of Athabasca County an asset.
• Current First Aid Certification an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License (Class 3 and/or Q Endorsement would be an asset).
