Qualifications and Skills:
- Post Secondary Degree in Planning or related field with 1 year related experience or a Diploma in Planning or related field with 3 years related experience
- Eligible to be a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners
- Technical knowledge of the practices and principles of community planning
- Knowledge of relevant federal, provincial and municipal legislation, policies and programs, as well as the ability to integrate/utilize them in planning and development projects
- Good public relations, interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written) to communicate with County staff, the development industry and general public
- Facilitation and mediation skills and the ability to influence outcomes through public presentations and written reports
- Ability to carry out duties with minimal supervision and to take initiative to complete projects for the Land Development Planning teams
- Ability to achieve practical results allowing strategic and timely adjustments to the Land Development Planning work program in a complex and growing environment
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team to promote corporate and Planning & Development Services’ goals/objectives to clients/members of the public
- Comprehensive knowledge of current applicable legislation, new trends and literature
Conditions of Employment:
- Class 5 Alberta vehicle operator’s license and ability to provide own transportation and meet insurance requirements
