Summary:  Reporting to and under the general direction of the Lead, the Officer, Legislative Services maintains overall responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of services within their area of responsibility.  The role focuses on providing exceptional customer service while seeking solutions to complex problems with conflicting priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Purpose of the position

The position:

  • Provides supervision and leadership for Municipal Elections & Census Projects, including scheduling, training, mentoring, recruiting, releasing, and evaluating all direct reports.
  • Provides peer support to other leaders and participates in review of policies, procedures and new initiatives requested by the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Develops a positive and proactive customer service philosophy throughout the department.
  • Prepares department-related letters, applications, and requests (i.e. Active Dissemination & Routine Disclosure, FOIP/ATIA/POPA, Council Reports, petitions, etc.).
  • Coordinates open houses and training sessions.
  • Coordinates intergovernmental and Indigenous relations. Oversees the Reconciliation Action Plan.
  • Manages Municipal Elections & Census Projects.
  • Serves as FOIP Coordinator and Commissioner of Oaths.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will hold the following qualifications:

  • Degree in Public Administration, Political Science or related field of study.
  • 3 to 5 years related work experience.  Supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act Training.
  • Certificate in Tribunal Administrative Justice, and/or Administrative Law is an asset.
  • Must be a Commissioner for Oaths, a Certified Assessment Review Board Clerk and/or a Subdivision Development Appeal Board Clerk.
  • Superior communication, public relations, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in using MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Teams, Outlook
  • A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Position details:

  • Permanent full-time position
  • On site location: Lac La Biche, Alberta (must be willing to relocate)
  • Days/Hours:  Based on 1820 hours annually with a 7 hour workday, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours may be required in the evenings or weekends for emergency duties or special projects.
  • Salary range: $83,592.60 to $107,416.40 ($45.03 to $59.02 hourly)
