We are currently recruiting the right person to fill the position of Municipal Engineer in our Engineering Department. This senior technical position is responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining the City’s water, wastewater, and stormwater computer models. This includes advanced engineering investigation, analysis, problem solving and written communication on a variety of technical issues.
Modelling tasks include (but are not limited to):
Determine the effects of new development on the existing system;
Review of computer models prepared by consultants for green field development;
Analyse and make recommendations for system upgrades to support growth; and
Recommend and supervise field data collection to calibrate computer models.
The position is responsible for preparing utility designs and cost estimates that will be used for construction, budgeting, or planning purposes.
This position is responsible for the review of engineering planning studies and design drawings related to the City’s sanitary, stormwater, and water infrastructure. This work includes preparing and administering individual consultant contracts for a variety of municipal projects.
As our preferred candidate you will have:
Graduate from University with a Degree in Civil Engineering (P.Eng, or M.Eng).
Eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers, and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Minimum eight years direct related experience in computer modelling, and design of water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering.
Knowledge of the principles of surveying and computer aided modelling, drafting, and design.
Knowledge of, and hands on experience with computer modelling/design software including WaterCad, PCSWMM, & AutoCad Civil 3D.
