- Ability to handle multiple areas of liability insurance matters, including occupier’s liability, municipal errors and omissions, wrongful dismissal and employment liability, tender law, and bodily injury claims.
- Proven expertise in at least two of the above liability insurance areas.
- Thorough knowledge of the Alberta Insurance Act and basic knowledge of Municipal Government Act.
- Working knowledge of contractual liability.
- Ability to run an organized caseload from beginning to end, with little to no supervision.
- Strong business acumen with verbal, negotiation, interpersonal and drafting skills.
- Excellent client service and communication skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel (clean drivers abstract).
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B. or J.D.)
- Member of the Alberta Bar Association in good standing
- 5 to 7 years of experience in civil litigation and advocacy.
