Who you are?
You are an experienced and collaborative leader who is passionate about community development and cultural services. You are comfortable working across multiple portfolios, building relationships with diverse groups, and providing guidance and recommendations in a municipal environment. You bring:
- Post-secondary degree in Cultural Development, Arts, History, Heritage, Human Services, Social Sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five years of related experience in a combination of arts, culture, history, heritage, community development, human services, social sciences, event management or related specialties.
- Experience supervising and leading employees, including assigning work, providing coaching and technical guidance, onboarding, training and contributing to performance discussions.
- Demonstrated experience supporting employees with problem-solving, decision-making and navigating operational challenges.
- Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of community development principles, relationship building, public engagement and partnership development with community groups and organizations.
- Experience working with volunteers, advisory organizations, committees or community agencies.
- Experience preparing reports, presentations or recommendations to support departmental planning and decision-making.
- Experience with budgeting processes, including tracking expenditures, gathering financial information and providing input into operating or capital budget planning, is considered an asset.
- Experience working with municipal government processes and initiatives requiring collaboration with community agencies, non-profit organizations or other levels of government is considered an asset.
- Experience in museum operations, policy research, collections management and collections software is considered an asset.
- Strong project coordination, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments, community organizations, contractors, residents, and other contributors.
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, develop options and provide recommendations.
- High level of professionalism, tact, diplomacy and integrity when working with diverse groups and navigating sensitive community matters
