Summary

The IT Asset Technician will be responsible for hardware asset deployment, decommission, and inventory. This role will play a critical part in ensuring that our IT services are delivered efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of our internal teams and clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

This is a 6-month, on-site position.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Asset Deployment (40%)

  • Unbox and prepare hardware assets such as Laptops, iPads, Monitors, and other devices.
  • Follow set processes and procedures ensuring consistent deployment.
  • Contact end users to coordinate appointments for device transitions.
  • Maintain asset records accurately in our ITSM system.
  • Bring forward any problems or opportunities found in our deployment process.
  • Perform maintenance and asset redeployment in compliance with procedure.
  • Provide training and support when transitioning end users to new devices.

Hardware Asset Decommissioning (30%) 

  • Decommission hardware marked for disposal.
  • Follow asset decommissioning procedures to ensure data security.
  • Maintain asset records accurately when decommissioning hardware.

IT Asset Management (20%) 

  • Perform asset and stock inventorying tasks.
  • Support asset audits as needed.

Other Duties (10%)

  • Support Service Desk with incident and service requests as needed.
  • Assist with projects as needed.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE 
The following are required in this position:

  • Basic computer operating system and software deployment and repair skills.
  • Working towards a diploma in Information Technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently, with the ability to take initiative and be self-motivated, and demonstrate a commitment to continual learning.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set and manage among conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally verbally and in writing, including being adaptable, receptive, and timely when communicating with others, and possessing tact and discretion.
  • Ability to research and analyze issues, including applying problem solving skills and ability to provide recommended solutions connecting the business issue and technology solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

The following are considered assets or preferences in this position:
Experience with a ticket system considered an asset.
