Summary

Starland County is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a full-time permanent Heavy Duty Technician to play an important role in maintaining and supporting equipment and infrastructure.

The successful applicant will be required to work 40 to 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based on the time of year. The salary range for this position is $71,000 – $101,500. We offer a competitive benefits and pension package. In accordance with our Substance Abuse Prevention Policy, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required prior to commencing employment as well as a drivers abstract to be completed.

Key Responsibilities

The job duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Constructs, installs, and repairs equipment and machinery
  • Diagnoses equipment/vehicle problems and determines repairs needed
  • Repairs overhauls, maintains and services diesel-and gas-powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, and excavators
  • Conducts routine inspections, troubleshoot mechanical issues and completes service reports
  • Perform mechanical repairs to road calls for vehicles and equipment/machinery when required
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation and accurate completion of work orders

Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble, and adjust mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain in efficient operating condition. They will have their Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) certification and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Technician or be an apprentice in their final years of working towards their HET and be able to complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections.

The successful candidate must be physically capable of working in confined and awkward spaces as well effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Knowledge in inventory and inventory systems for parts management is considered an asset.
