Key Responsibilities Include:
At The City of Red Deer, we work together for Our City and speak with One Voice. As such, we are seeking a new General Manager (GM) to lead and be responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial management of one of their divisions.
The GM supports the City Manager by contributing to the strategic direction and management of The City as a member of the Leadership Team. Collaborating with the City Manager and the other GMs, the General Manager will actively engage with the community to understand and identify critical issues, challenges and opportunities, and lead their team to develop policies, service plans, programs and services to meet the needs of The City’s various constituencies and partners. They will foster a positive and performance-oriented culture that supports a strong customer service-based relationship with the residents and businesses of Red Deer to expand The City’s economic base and quality of life.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is community orientated with a post-secondary degree in public administration, business administration, or a related discipline, coupled with leadership experience in a public sector environment. With a history of collaboration and achieving measurable results, they will possess the ability to link strategic planning to operational and business objectives while building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders. The successful candidate has experience leading people and managing performance in a multi-unionized environment and is a champion of creative problem-solving and facilitating change.
