The Town of Three Hills is seeking a dynamic and motivated team member to fill the Public Works Equipment Operator I position. The position offers a rewarding work environment where you will safely and efficiently operate and maintain vehicles and equipment and perform labour-related duties. This temporary full-time position requires eight (8) hours per day, forty (40) hours per week. The rate of pay is per the CUPE Local 417-05 Collective Agreement.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to the Public Works Coordinator, the functional responsibilities include:
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate equipment including but not limited to; skid steer, loader, motor grader, rubber tire backhoe, street sweeper, street sander, single axle dump truck, tandem axle truck, and landfill compactor
- Ability to proficiently operate other equipment owned or rented by the Town
- Ability to recognize needed equipment repairs or make minor repairs and undertake standard maintenance procedures on all equipment they operate
- Capable of physical labour
- May be required to undertake works to finish structures in metal, wood, or other materials
- May be required to maintain and make necessary repairs to sidewalks, curbs and overland drainage ditches, pavement structures, gravel roadways, and above ground infrastructure
- May be required to assist with the operation and maintenance of utilities, parks, recreation, or waste management
- Actively participates in and adheres to the Town’s Workplace Health & Safety Program
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions and prepare work records
Requirements:
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum of a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence, Class 3 with Air Brake “Q” endorsement is an asset
- Successful completion of a Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate
- Minimum two (2) years experience in equipment operation or an equivalent combination of education and experience
