Summary

Enforcement Services – Summer Position

Term – May to August 2026

Location: High River, AB

This position will be responsible for the coordination, scheduling and deployment of the radar speed trailers and the collection and analysis of data from these trailers to assist with the development of traffic safety initiatives within Foothills County under the general direction of the Manager of Enforcement Services.  This position will assist with the development of informational programming relating to cyclists and motor vehicle interface concerns.  This position will include engagement/job shadow opportunities with Community Peace Officers conducting traffic and bylaw enforcement. Other duties for this position will include assisting the Emergency Management Coordinator with researching, compiling and drafting resources, contact and dispatch response lists and provide assistance in the development of other emergency management projects as required.

Key Responsibilities

Speed Trailer/Traffic Data Collection Program

  • In conjunction with the Manager of Enforcement Services or the Senior Community Peace Officer, you will identify potential locations for the deployment of radar speed sign trailers within the County based on traffic patterns and Council and public requests.
  • Transport and set up of radar speed trailers at designated locations on a daily basis, including placement in construction zones in an effort to enhance public education and increase safety of Public Works and Agricultural Services crews working on County roads and ditches.
  • Provide support in the deployment of traffic data equipment and provide the data to public works and the Manager of Enforcement Services.

Cyclist / Motor Vehicle Interface Education Program

  • Assist with development, coordination and delivery of informational programming relating to cyclist / motor vehicle interface concerns.

Emergency Management

  • Assist the Emergency Management Coordinator on tasks and/or projects as required.

Administrative

  • Collection of statistical information from the traffic data collectors, analysis of this information and providing reports to the Manager of Enforcement Services or the Senior Community Peace Officer in prioritizing and development of public education and enforcement activities.
  • Assistance to administrative support personnel as required.

Job Shadow Opportunities

  • Ride along with CPO’s conducting traffic enforcement duties, municipal bylaw enforcement duties, commercial vehicle safety inspections and attend Court as observer.
  • Provide assistance on municipal bylaw matters as required.
  • Assist in transporting friendly dogs to kennel facilities when required.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Good comprehension of written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to review, analyze and interpret data.
  • Current Driver’s Abstract must be submitted with application.
  • Criminal Records check is required for successful candidate.
  • Ability to research and interpret legislation and practices relating to Municipal Bylaws and Emergency Management.
